STEAM培训|美国专家走进闵行万科幼儿园
In the past two years, teachers from VKMH have been participated several terms of training held by Children’s Center at Caltech(CCC), which is a STEM-based kindergarten in California. During every 5-day training, teachers gained a lot and brought the philosophy into everyday teaching practice.
在过去的两年中,闵行万科幼儿园的骨干教师们参与了多期由华东师范大学主办的“加州理工学院附属幼儿园(CCC)早期STEAM课程培训”。在每次为期五天的学习中,美国专家带领学员就STEAM理念、实践方法、幼儿行为的观察与记录等方面进行梳理与探讨。老师们收获良多,并已将培训中收获的心得与想法付诸教学与环创实践中。

In order to fulfill our kindergarten’s STEAM philosophy and get more teachers being trained, on June 6th we invited experts from CCC to come into VKMH.
为了进一步夯实我园STEAM办学特色,让更多的老师接受到STEAM理念辐射,6月6日,闵行区万科幼儿园邀请到了来自美国加州理工学院附属幼儿园的课程负责人Gretchen Kammerers,教师Alex Domingo Landayan以及中方专家乔瑟琳为全体教师展开了为期一天的STEAM理念与实操培训。
【加州理工学院附属幼儿园(Children's Center at Caltech, CCC)招收6个月到5岁的婴幼儿,学生绝大部分是加州理工学院的教职员或学生子女。创办人苏珊伍德(Susan Wood)20年前开始研究将学科和儿童兴趣融合的幼教课程,发展出ECSTEM(Early Childhood STEM)的概念。在这里,婴幼儿是“天生的科学家”,在教师精心设计的环境中探索、学习,通过与人和自然的互动获得认知、语言、情感等方面的全面发展。】

理念学习,共探STEAM 本质

The morning training focused on “what isSTEM” and “how to put STEM in practice”. Ms. Alex gave the training by showingteachers a bunch of photos of CCC.
上午的培训首先由Alex老师就‘什么是STEM’和‘STEM在CCC的实践”进行展开,通过展示大量加州理工大学儿童中心(CCC)的真实照片,让老师们切实领会到STEM理念是如何贯穿在一日生活中的每个环节。
(STEAM-Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics是结合科学、技术、工程、艺术,以及数学的跨学科教学方法,透过相关课程,将五大领域的知识整合起来,打破不同学科间的隔阂,让幼儿在数学逻辑的基础下,借由动手建构工程与呈现艺术美学,来学习科学和技术的内涵)
Alex said: “ Although our curriculum is emergent, it doesn’t mean we set up activities in random. Instead, we create all the environment and activities intentionally.”
Alex老师特别强调,虽然我们的课程是生成的、从幼儿需求出发的,但是教师为幼儿设计的环境和活动不是随意的,它们都是有准备、有目的的。所以我们可以看到,在CCC,空间的陈设、材料的摆放、活动的设计都是学习性与美学性的结合。

现场操作,还原STEAM课程设计

The afternoon training focused on how to designSTEM-based curriculum. Under Ms. Gretchen’s guidance, the VKMH teaching team brainstormedmeans of developing curriculum.
在下午的培训中,Gretchen老师带领万科幼儿园的中外教们共同还原国外STEM课程的设计流程:从幼儿的兴趣出发---主题课程网络图—STEAM多领域整合—激励幼儿自主探究的活动。
Teachers in differentgrade levels worked together to design a STEAM-based curriculum. They came upwith questions, designed solutions, trying it out and adjusted it like whatkids do for exploration.
托小中大班老师也在各自的教研组内进行了现场操作,就一个STEAM的主题进行头脑风暴,形成课程网络图,并接受专家们的提问。在此过程中,老师们也像孩子进行STEAM探究一般,去发现问题、设计方案、解决问题并不断调整迭代。

答疑研讨,反思提升
Briefing and Discussion
After the training, the principals guided experts to see our new STEAM-based environment, and solved teacher’s questions and puzzles. They thought highly of our teachers’ expertise.
培训结束后,美国专家在园长的引导下参观了刚刚焕然一新的STEAM校园环境创设,倾听并解答了老师们对于目前STEAM课程实施中的疑惑,对万科幼儿园老师们所展现出的积极和专业给予了高度评价。
STEAM and Arts teachers team also briefed thoughts and ideas afterwards, making adjustment to our current curriculum.
园内STEAM和美术教研组的老师们也在会后就培训内容进行了反思交流。老师们分享培训中的所思所想,并为我园STEAM课程的进一步发展提出了构想。
幼儿的好奇心或者说他们与生俱来的求知欲是其工作和游戏的主要动力,在幼儿园阶段,好奇心和探究能力正成为许多惊人发现的推动力。也许今天孩子的一个科学问题,会成为明天他带领人类到细胞内部、海洋深处、月球之上探索的源动力,引领人类迈向更高、更深、更复杂的理解领域。在闵行万科幼儿园,我们将继续在STEAM理念的引领下、用心专业的为孩子提供更好的教育,激发他们的无限潜能。
