Our STEM club members have recently made their kites and tested them on the school playground, competing to see which kite flew the highest. Besides, the students showed their design process and explained in detail how a kite flies by using accurate science in their final reports.

上海康德STEM社团的同学最近动手制作了风筝，并在上周的课上进行了风筝试飞和放风筝比赛。另外，同学们还通过图画和文字的形式将风筝的设计过程记录了下来，并运用相关的科学知识详细解释了风筝的飞行原理。

The students tried various materials in making kites, including cotton swabs, straws, plastic bags, and foil. Physics Teacher Claire Campbell told me that the students are encouraged to boldly explore and try in the club. The students gave free rein to their creativity and made the kites of different sizes and shapes. For example, one of the kites was smaller than a person’s palm, and another looked like a sky lantern.

同学们尝试利用各种材料来制作风筝，包括棉签、吸管、塑料袋、锡纸等。物理组的Claire Campbell老师告诉我，STEM社团鼓励同学们进行各种大胆的尝试和探索。正因为如此，同学们充分发挥了各自的创造力，制作出了各种尺寸和形状的风筝，有的比掌心还小、有的看上去像一盏孔明灯。

It is worth noting that Handicraft Teacher Maggie Yu helped a lot in the first session of the programme, teaching the students the techniques on how to design and make the kites.

值得一提的是，劳技老师于牧原在本次活动中也帮了很大的忙，她在活动前期教授学生设计制作风筝的技巧。

When students complete eight challenges and record them in their CREST SuperStar passports, they can get CREST SuperStar certificates. CREST scheme is UK nationally recognised and organised by the British Science Association. It has six levels-““Star”，“SuperStar”, “Discovery”, “Bronze”, “Silver”, and “Gold”.

同学们完成八个STEM挑战项目，并记录在“CREST SuperStar护照“上，就能获得“CREST SuperStar”奖状。CREST项目由英国科学协会组织，分为六个等级—“Star”、“SuperStar”、“Discovery”、“Bronze”、“Silver”和“Gold”。

STEM courses focuses on developing students' creativity, practical abilities, analytical skills, and teamwork spirit. We attach great importance to STEM education and expect our students to master these skills to better prepare themselves for the future.

STEM课程重在培养学生的创造力、实践能力、分析能力，以及团队合作能力。我校非常重视STEM课程，希望同学们可以通过学习掌握上述技能，从而更好地为未来世界做准备。

Shanghai Concord is the first International Bilingual School in Huangpu District established in 2017. We currently have grades 1,2,6,7,10 and 11 and will ultimately cater for students from Year 1 to 12. The school has support from the Party Committee, the Government of Huangpu District and is under the guidance of the Huangpu District Education Bureau. Shanghai Concord and Concord College UK are sister schools.
